Who is on your team?

The program Jesus gave us:

Love God

Love your team. (You and the coach are part of the team.)

When we do this we live a Good Life. The 10 commandments are a description of the Good Life, not a prescription.

Love God, love your team, and do what you want.

Loving God and my team helps me see what I want and what good I can do today. I just start, trusting that the little I can do today with God's help is enough. I learn as much as I can from what I do and from others,  if needed adjust what I want, then repeat tomorrow. I keep doing this until my True Self (loves God, Loves team) gets what it wants.

How to start a new business.

How do you start a new business?

The short answer: Get a customer.

Of course there is more to it than that. Usually there is the decision to be in business. Then preparation. Then selling the first customer. 

This is not a linear process. Some may be on the step of making a decision until they die without ever starting anything. Or some who have definitely made up their mind spend their life getting ready.

And some start with seemingly no decision and no preparation. But if you get them alone and listen carefully you can here some moment when a decision is made, often with the preparation already in place.

A very, very successful business person told me this moment happened on a ski lift, the preparation had already taken place with education and job experience he suddenly saw. Until that moment he'd never thought of being in business for himself. Getting fired or treated poorly in some other way by an employer often has this effect.

The best book for people who are starting? Just Start, Harvard Business Review Press.  Go to Amazon, search on Just Start. While you are there take a look at my little book, very simple, talks about the four phases of startup, search for it on Amazon with my name John Wren Daring Mighty Things.

This life, this day, is very short. Let's go get started!

If you're starting in a new direction with your work, starting a new career, a new project or campaign, or a new business, join us for an IDEA Cafe Startup Workshop. The only cost is a willingness to share your own startup experience and ideas with the others who attend.

Each Friday afternoon there is a model group in Denver, Colorado from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Attend when you are starting or when you want to consider starting an IDEA Cafe in your neighborhood.
